New digital platform for oil and gas services giant

The Challenge:

Petrofac is a FTSE 100 company, providing oil and gas services to some of the largest organisations in its industry. Its website is both an information hub for its work around the globe, and a key tool in its recruitment strategy. As a consequence, external search engines, such as Google, and Petrofac's own internal search engine are critical tools for visitors to reach both the website and to find the information they are after. Digital Potion was asked to review the existing site and create a brand new framework using up-to-date web technology to create an attractive, easy-to-search, responsive website.

Our Solution:

We rebuilt the site using a bespoke CMS, designed to be fast, clean and intuitive. It was important to ensure that our systems, while allowing complete usability, also addressed all of the technical and security requirements of a global oil and gas services company. From there, we turned our attention to SEO, making sure that as the site grew organically the CMS would inherently add value by applying proven SEO techniques. That gave the company the exposure it needed, particularly in terms of recruitment, where content changes all the time to attract the very best talent.

The Outcome:

Since launching, Petrofac’s new site has enjoyed fantastic natural search results for keywords that align closely to its key strategic drivers. Traffic from search is up, and dwell-time has increased significantly. We’re particularly proud of the work we’ve done to seed industry-specific recruitment terms throughout the site, which has led to Petrofac owning the top slots on Google.



The site is also provides its users with a much improved mobile and tablet experience, ensuring the information is available to all users on any device.
