Opumo sells designer men's accessories, including wallets, bags, ties, belts and sunglasses, sourced from the world's most exclusive fashion brands. Fashion retail is a competitive enough business on the high street. On the web, it's even tougher to stand out against traditional brands, big online names and niche boutique players.
As a young business only launched in 2011, Opumo needed a proactive digital strategy that would quickly build brand awareness, attract customers, develop loyalty and drive sales. Our client was particularly keen to boost their profile through active search engine marketing. So, our role was to build a new website, plus much more.
Designing and launching the e-commerce destination at www.opumo.com was only the first step. We then worked with Opumo on a number of marketing initiatives to help build their digital presence, including a vibrant new blog platform that matched the brand's overt sense of style and fashion.
All of our recommendations were informed by research. We conducted a full digital health check across the core e-commerce site, associated blog and the numerous social networks that Opumo uses. Our review studied everything from traffic statistics to existing content, and from usability and interactivity to cross linking. It also incorporated an in-depth assessment of search engine visibility and optimisation. These findings were complemented by an intensive competitor review, benchmarking Opumo's activity against key rivals, while evaluating keyword use and back link placement. The keyword research also defined and segmented audience profiles to establish behaviour and online habits.
Using all these elements, we generated an all-encompassing bespoke digital strategy that was immediately applied across Opumo's website and relevant social media channels. We acted as a true digital partner, working directly with the Opumo team to guide and oversee digital activity and training to ensure the team gets maximum benefit from our content tools. We continue to work on sustained link-building campaigns and advise Opumo on their social media presence as well.
Our work provided a strategic framework for Opumo that now directs every element of its online approach. It ensures that marketing activity yields maximum results – via its website, social networks and through the wider task of content generation.
